"When are you going to make men's clothes?"
“When are you going to make men’s clothes?”
This is our most-asked question (tied with “when are Treasure Dresses getting restocked?”)
The playful, easy answer? - “depending on your style, we already might!”
The longer complicated answer that’s too long to explain in a DM? - “probably never”
Ask any woman-owned brand making clothes that are designed for women & people identifying as women - they’ve all been asked this question a thousand times, often with the additive “you’re missing out on a major piece of the market”. While the question is innocent and genuine, it’s glaringly naive.
The world of style and fashion is anything but binary, but we design for function which means anatomy is an important consideration. There's a whole wide world of men’s brands out there - arguably a much larger world than that for women. Adding men’s clothing to our line doesn’t mean just slapping our eclectic prints onto button ups, board shorts or hoodies (that’s just “shrink it and pink it” in reverse). Because that’s not what we do with our women’s clothing!
We put enormous care and time into developing products that fit well, serve a purpose and are made to last. To add men’s clothing means duplicating that and adding a second business! We’re a BRAND that is exactly that - a community connected by story and experience - and that has taken the better part of a decade to create.
We don’t just sell products - we sell the story of a brand. Creating essentially a second brand would involve so many resources to be able to understand and speak to a population of people that we have zero experience serving. We serve a niche, and we’re totally cool with that.
It’s awesome that so many men have asked for the opportunity to wear our prints, and we hope that an amazing brand that already makes rad clothes for men, gets on the same colorful page we’re on! Now stop asking us this question ;)
